How to Choose a Destin Hotel or Resort for Your Family
The only place on this list that operates as a hotel is Henderson Beach Resort. The rooms and suites are for 2 or 4, with or without a lounge area. I’d call this a standard hotel room layout. You’ll be served drinks by the pool, and hotel services are great.
That’s just one place though, and Destin has a lot of beachfront property. The most popular thing to do in Destin is to rent a condo. Most of the rental homes in Destin are off-beach, and it’s hard to beat those sunsets from your beachfront condo’s balcony.
There are condos and there are condos with added amenities like spas, restaurants, and beach service (not common year-round).
It’s important to know that most of the condo buildings are fairly old and each condo is individually owned, so every unit will be unique. This makes selecting a specific unit very important. That’s where Airbnb and management companies come in.
Usually Airbnb listings are more up-to-date, but with the booking fee, not always the best deal. One approach could be to find the unit you want on Airbnb and contact the management company directly.
Or contact the management company and ask them which units have been updated most recently.
Book ahead. Summer, though hot and humid, is always busy.
If you’re looking for a deal, book once it cools off a little, into November or in the early spring before spring break starts in the area. When the sun’s out, it can still feel warm during some winter days, but will cool off significantly at night.
