“Unpretentious relaxation” – The London West Hollywood
And unpretentious relaxation it was. To be clear, the rooftop pool at The London West Hollywood is popular. It gets busy. But it is in fact unpretentious. In my opinion, one of the best hotel pools Los Angeles has to offer. Upon midday arrival, all the loungers and cabanas were full, but that didn’t stop us from having a great time. Drop a towel on the patio and you’ve got a convenient spot to dip in and out of the water on a hot day.
An overnight stay made snagging a lounger possible, since they fill up rather quickly. If you must have a bed, I highly recommend staying overnight or renting a cabana in advance: details can be found here.
The first order of business poolside is to order a margarita. It’s the litmus test for cocktails. My rating: 4. Too sweet for me, but nevertheless a tasty beverage. There were several refreshing cocktails on the menu as well as rosé and bubbles, which are never bad choices. Pool servers are busy but friendly and tend to everyone, even from the pool. If you’re a lady of leisure like me, warning: you may have to use your arm to wave someone over.
